James P in Massachusettes

May 21, 2009

Total duration was 19 days
  • First Contact -  Tuesday, May 5, 2009
  • Power of Attorney (POA) Received - Same day
  • POA Faxed to IRS - Immediately
  • First IRS Contact - 15 minutes later
  • Tax returns previously filed by taxpayer - 2001 and 2002
  • Tax returns not filed - 2003 through 2008
  • Tax returns filed by IRS - None
  • I prepared and filed tax returns for all required years. Fortunately for James, only  2008 showed anything due. It was just $950 due including penalties and interest.
  • This client had no IRS Wage Levy, but had received a Notice of Intent to Levy
  • No monthly payment agreement was needed

James received an IRS Notice of Intent to Levy (also known as a Thirty-Day Letter) in the mail. So the clock was ticking and IRS was going to begin levy action in less than two weeks.

It took some time to get everything to and from James, but since time was not yet critical, we took our time and didn't rush anything.

When everything was done, James got off fairly well.
